College of Fisheries, Lembucherra, Tripura, a constituent college of Central Agricultural University, Imphal, has been evolved as one of the best Fisheries College in India in terms of academic performance. The College has established its position at national level in producing ICAR-JRS consistently. The graduates of this college are serving in various governments, non- government institution and universities in and outside India and have excelled in their respective fields. The college is also involved in research and extension activities since its inception in 1998 for the development of fisheries sector in the region. With funding support from different national funding agencies, the college has contributed a lot in research activities which are reflected in peer reviewed research publication in different national and international journals. This institution has also extended significant extension services to the farmer of the north eastern region of the country in the areas of aquaculture, fish health, environment and processing technology.

It’s a matter of great pleasure and immense satisfaction to note that our students have excelled very well in recently conducted JRF Examination by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. Besides, getting several top positions in this all India competitive examination, one of our students has bagged the 1st position at national level in the discipline of Fisheries Science. This is the result of hard work of our students as well as faculty members along with all other staff members. I take this opportunity to congratulate all my successful students and also to thank all the faculty members. The success of our students in such a prestigious examination does not make us content rather it motivates all of us to work more hard to bring more laurels to Central Agricultural University through our sincere efforts in teaching as well as in research. The aim of producing right kind of human resources in the discipline of fisheries and aquaculture can be fulfilled only through the management and development of related resources with a view to produce more fish and provide nutritional security to the people of N.E. Region.
