We all are aware of the extraordinary challenges that the world is facing because of COVID-19 pandemic. In this tough time, College of Fisheries, Lembucherra, Tripura, a constituent college of Central Agricultural University, Imphal has adopted incredible measures to ensure that the students stay motivated by being continuously in touch with our students through digital means. By leveraging technology, online classes are being conducted seamlessly and all relevant study materials that are essential for the students, is made available online. Our students have shown commendable resilience, restraint and understanding during this challenging and stressful time. I am happy to note that the students of college has been consistently performing better in AIEEA-PG and bagged the overall top positions in 2013, 2016 & 2019 and in UPS category in 2020. In SRF examination, 2020, three students in the discipline of Fisheries Resource Management and Fish Genetics and Breeding stood first rank in different categories.

On the 12th Day of May 2021, I have taken over the charge of the Dean of College of Fisheries, Lembucherra under the aegis of Central Agricultural University (Imphal). The College of Fisheries operates with three functional domains viz. teaching, research, and extension education for educating, training, and developing competent professionals on one hand and science-led vis-a-vis technology-driven productivity enhancement and diversification in the field of fisheries and aquaculture on the other. Standing on the premise of already attained acclamation at the national level for its professional performance, with the support of excellent infrastructure and state-of-the-art teaching as well as laboratory facilities, the college is now progressively striding ahead to turn out to be a globally recognized player in its mandated functional areas. The fisheries and aquaculture of the North-Eastern Region (NER) has immense potential due to abundant natural resources and rich faunal biodiversity. The College of Fisheries is at the forefront in developing region-specific technologies, resources mapping, and the transfer of technologies to the end-users. In fact, the college has developed 21 technologies and several other technologies/packages of practices are in the pipeline.
