Multi Technology Testing Centre and Vocational Training Centre

Brief overview:

The Multi Technology Testing Centre and Vocational Training Centre under the College of Fisheries, Central Agricultural University (I), Lembucherra started functioning since December 2019. So far the university has set up one college in each constituent state. All these colleges are of different disciplines and the farmers have to travel to the other states for solution of their problems and enlightenment on the latest technologies relating to disciplines other than what is available in the colleges of their own states. Due to various reasons such as heavy rainfall and unsatisfactory means of communication, long distance travelling from one state to another within the region is very arduous, time consuming, risky and expensive which the poor tribal farmers can hardly afford. Consequently the technologies developed by the researchers of other organizations cannot be made use extensively for addressing the problems of farmers of this region. As a result the very purpose of the research gets defeated. In order to overcome this difficulty, the Multi Technology Testing Centre (MTTC) and Vocational Training Centre (VTC) were created by the approval of the 12th EFC Memorandum of Central Agricultural University in 2015. The MTTC is mandated with testing of technologies and VTC is formed to generate self employment, develop entrepreneurship skill among youths and farmers, and give technical knowledge about scientific management of farms.

Research Thrust/ Priority Areas :

  • Testing of agricultural technologies.
  • Farmers’ empowerment for self employment.
  • Developing entrepreneurship skill.
  • Dissemination of technical knowledge about scientific management of farms.
